Job summary

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is hiring Teacher Aides to support students across Special Education programs in the region. This is meaningful, hands-on work where your presence matters daily.

We offer a 6-hour day, 10-month calendar with evenings and summers off, plus the option to work during summer school. Hourly pay ranges from $16.00 to $18.72, with excellent benefits including health insurance, NYS retirement, loan forgiveness, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Civil Service eligibility for Teacher Aide required: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with adults and students
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position including lifting up to 50 lbs and assisting with transfers
• Willing to participate in ongoing professional development and training such as TCI-S

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher by performing non-instructional duties to support students with disabilities individually, in small groups and/or test proctoring
• Assist with general supervision of students in various settings including classroom, hallways, lunchroom, and playground
• Assist with classroom management and monitoring student behavior using positive behavior strategies
• Perform physical intervention techniques when necessary
• Support the implementation of IEPs and Section 504 Plans under staff direction
• Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
• Assist with preparation of materials, projects, demonstrations and displays
• Attend meetings as necessary and complete required training
