Job summary

The Learning Spectrum is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional in Johnstown, OH. You will support students with autism and related needs, working closely with teachers, therapists, and behavior specialists to foster academic, social, and behavioral growth in a structured setting.

Your role involves implementing teacher-designed lessons, collecting progress data, and assisting with daily routines and transitions to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months of experience in education or child development
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Educator aide permit (or willingness to obtain) and completion of required background checks
• Ability to implement lesson plans, behavior interventions, and therapy strategies under supervision
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students individually and in small groups to reinforce instructional and behavioral goals
• Implement lessons and activities developed by teachers and therapists with consistency and accuracy
• Collect data and document progress toward academic, behavioral, and IEP objectives
• Support students with daily routines, transitions, and self-care activities while maintaining a safe, structured classroom
• Communicate observations and updates to teachers and therapists to guide student progress and planning
