Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks a Teacher Aide for Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD). You will implement instructional programs, support student behavior plans, and assist with daily self-care and health procedures under the supervision of a teacher and school nurse.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; experience with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred.
Maintain CPR certification at the level determined by American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

Implement student instructional program as directed by teacher.
Follow behavior support plans of individual students.
Accommodate for each student’s communication needs.
Follow daily schedule of work activities.
Perform the daily self-care needs of students.
Follow student health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
Assist with arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom.
Provide a safe school environment for students.
Participate in 15 hours of in-service first year and 10 hours each year thereafter.
Maintain confidentiality of personal information.
