Job summary

Lockhart Independent School District’s Lockhart Junior High in Lockhart, Texas seeks a Special Education Aide (Foundational Learning) to support a teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. Under supervision of a certified teacher, you will help prepare instructional materials and assist with behavior management across the school day.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a Texas educational aide certificate; prior experience

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to and from wheelchairs.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care.
• Help manage behavior of students, including crisis intervention and restraining disruptive behavior as needed.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
