Public Schools of Petoskey is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with special needs under teacher guidance in Petoskey, MI. This is a full-time paraprofessional role with a starting pay of $18.08 per hour and a 7-hour school day.

The position requires an Associate Degree or 60 hours, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and FERPA confidentiality. You will work with teachers, principals, and learning specialists to support diverse learners and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate Degree or 60 hours from an approved college, preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and follow educator instructions.
• Communicate effectively with students and adults to aid progress.
• Keep accurate records (e.g., behavior observation charts).
• Organized, self-directed, and flexible to varied schedules and needs.

Responsibilities

• Assists in daily classroom activities as directed by teachers and building leadership.
• Works with individual students or small groups in areas related to IEP goals (academic, health, social/behavioral, etc.).
• Exhibits a positive attitude and caring demeanor.
• Participates in workshops or professional development as needed.
• Assists with enrichment activities outside the classroom (field trips, community involvement).
• Maintains records/logs and attends team/staff meetings as appropriate.
• Helps maintain classroom climate and culture for optimal learning.
