Job summary

Academy District 20 is seeking a SpEd Paraprofessional to support students with Significant Support Needs (SSN) under the supervision of a licensed teacher at Explorer Elementary School in Colorado Springs. The role covers daily classroom support, behavior management, and collaboration with therapists and other staff to implement education goals.

Responsibilities include assisting in instructional activities, supervising students, and helping with medical tasks and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Reports consistently for work as scheduled
• Assists licensed special education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and other evaluative staff
• Carries out instructional programs and lessons in various learning environments as designated in the lesson plan
• Assists students with medical tasks such as dispensing medication, tube feeding, catheterization, toileting, diapering, suctioning
• Monitors behavior contracts and reward systems for students
• Trains in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques and applies them when appropriate
• Maintains student files and inventory of materials and equipment
