Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools in Charlottesville is seeking a Special Education Assistant I to support instructional activities at Mountain View Upper Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year.

Under supervision of the classroom teacher, you will help implement IEP goals, supervise students, assist with classroom materials, and support daily routines in a respectful, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to support classroom instruction and behavior management.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructional plans and student support.
• Supervise students during meals, transitions, and non-instructional times.
• Aid in materials preparation and clerical tasks as directed.
• Help implement IEP goals and monitor student progress.
• Support a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with field trips, assemblies, and related activities.
