Job summary

Omaha Public Schools seeks a Paraprofessional for the Special Education Multihandicapped Program. The position supports classroom teachers and related services for students in a mentally handicapped program.

Starting date to be determined; full-time, non-exempt, 7 hours per day, 10-month schedule. Wage is $21.99 per hour; salary will align with negotiated agreements and district schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Commitment to helping all children learn and participate in professional development.
• Regular daily attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher with educational programs and related services such as OT/PT/Speech.
• Assist students with toileting, diaper changes, self-care, feeding, grooming.
• Assist with loading/unloading students from van/bus.
• Maintain a cheerful, clean classroom and restrooms.
• Collect and record data and help prepare teaching materials.
• Carry out structured behavior programs under supervision; protect confidentiality.
• Interact with students as directed by staff and work with a diverse team.
