Qualifications

• 60 college hours completed or equivalent substitute training certificate.
• Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate required and must be maintained.
• Physical intervention training must be obtained and maintained.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in adapting and presenting instructional materials and activities for students in general or special education settings.
• Support students’ learning, self-care, and social development by providing instructional concepts and materials.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops and relay information to the classroom team.
• Communicate progress and needs to teachers and participate in progress assessments.
• Document observations and maintain written records in accordance with requirements.
• Escort and supervise students to ensure safety and welfare.
• Guide students with disabilities in personal interactions and problem-solving strategies.
• Maintain and organize instructional files and records as required.
• Monitor student performance under teacher direction and provide feedback within IEP guidelines.
• Report health and safety issues to staff and appropriate agencies.
• Support students in various educational environments to maintain a safe learning space.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
