Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools seeks a FY27 Long Term Substitute Paraeducator Level II for Special Education at Walter Johnson High School. This full-time position supports students with IEPs, assists with instructional activities, and helps manage classroom behavior to promote learning.

The assignment extends until 12/23/2026; wage range is $20.95 to $37.00 per hour and does not include benefits. The role may require off-site activities and flexible scheduling to accommodate student needs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies and practices applicable to assignment, and instructional goals and policies of Montgomery County Public Schools.
• Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior.
• Ability to read/write/speak English and to interact with students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with various needs related to academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical support.
• Support the learning activities in general education and specialized instructional settings.
• Perform instructional and classroom management supports and related clerical tasks.
• May participate with students in learning activities off school grounds and accommodate flexible scheduling.
