Job summary

San Dieguito Union High School District in Encinitas, California, is seeking an Instructional / Personal Care Assistant - Special Education to support a teacher with students who have severe physical disabilities and/or cognitive delays.

The role involves monitoring student progress, assisting with personal care needs, and reporting on performance; the position is part-time, runs 195 days per year, with a daily schedule of 5.5 or 6 hours, and includes benefits.

Qualifications

• Six months of job-related experience working with children.
• CPR and First Aid certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association. Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, however, CPR certificate must include hands-on training.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Assist a teacher in providing instruction and care to students with severe physical disabilities and/or cognitive delays, monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance.
• Perform a variety of instructional support duties as assigned, including personal care tasks as described.
