Job Summary

Instructional Assistants Special Education assist a teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a special education learning environment. Assignments are throughout the district at middle and high schools in Special Education classrooms.

Requirements / Qualifications

Six months of job-related experience working with children, either paid or volunteer.

CPR and First Aid Certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association. Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, however, CPR certificate must include "hands on" classroom training.

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examination: Math, English and writing test, weight: 100%. Candidates who pass the exam are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. Candidate names will be merged onto an existing list based on overall exam score each time the exam is administered. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies within a six month period. If a candidate has taken a multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to a Qualifications Appraisal Interview.
