Job Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with student’s IEP team and determine appropriateness of placing the student in our Cyber and CAP program.
  • Manage and provide instructional guidance and strategies for a caseload of students.
  • Modify assignments, tests, quizzes and or projects when necessary.
  • Planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing students’ individual Special Education Plans
  • Timely submission, preparation, implementation of special education documentation, programming, and paperwork including IEPs, RRs, NOREPs, Invitations, progress monitoring data collection, etc.
  • Communicate (email, phone, Skype, in person etc.) with students on a weekly, daily, or as needed basis.
  • Support parents with “parent-assisted instruction” and implementing IEP.
  • Provide direct services to students including services delivered virtuallyor in person when needed or required based on IEP.
  • Provide support with classwork when needed.
  • Schedule, organize and conduct IEP related meetings as needed.
  • Assist, as needed, with the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation and procedures for the IEP process;
  • Assist with administering state testing and coordinate the special adaptations that are required based on the IEP.
  • Collect and monitor student data.
  • Participate in professional development.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local special education regulations
  • Consult and assist staff who need guidance to help support students with a learning disability.
  • All other duties assigned by district administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary and benefitsin accordance withthe Chichester Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Evaluation consistent with district policy and Pennsylvania educator effectiveness requirements.

EVALUATIONS:

Performance shall be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s Policy on Appraisal.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Special Education K-12 required

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Reading: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Writing: Ability to write reports, school correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Presentation: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, students, and/or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
