Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant (Program) for Cityview Elementary to support students with disabilities and assist in implementing individualized lessons. The role emphasizes independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy, with duties spanning classroom support, behavior management, and collaboration with staff.

This temporary assignment runs from 10/19/2026 to 3/31/2027, with 31.5 hours/week across 0-25 weeks and a 78.75 FTE basis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED; AND
• Monitors completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or educational area related to position assignment; OR
• Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment; AND
• Two (2) years of paid experience working with children; OREquivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Responsibilities

• Provides support services to children with moderate to severe disabilities; fosters an inclusive learning environment.
• Assists with Prevent, Teach, Reinforce behavior support plans and positive behavior reinforcement.
• Monitors student activities and maintains records of progress and behavior.
