Job description

Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Summary: This Special Counsel Assistant Attorney General position is based in Tampa and is assigned to the Division Director’s team and reports to the Division Director. This position functions as a lead litigator for the Consumer Protection Division and assists as needed on litigation cases in the Division. The position will work closely with other litigators for the Division in assisting and advising attorneys in trial, pleading, practice and procedures, and taking a lead role in our complex litigation cases. This position also assists the Director and the Division with legal research, special projects, and coordination with bureaus within the division and other agencies on legal issues relating to Consumer Protection.

Qualifications:
Admission to the Florida Bar and ten (10) years of professional experience in the practice of law, in the judiciary or in teaching law or any combination thereof; and five (5) of the ten (10) years must be in the specialty area in which the attorney is being hired.

Preference will be given to attorneys with the following:

  • 5 or more years of experience in civil litigation
  • 3 or more years of experience in the prosecution or defense of cases involving fraud, deceptive trade practices or white-collar crime crimes
