Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Special Chemistry Technologist to join our team at the Halsey Lab in Portland, OR. Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8:00AM-4:30PM with potential to rotate weekends/holidays.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Life Science and ASCP/AMT certification, with preferred experience in Special Chemistry. Opportunities include comprehensive benefits and career growth within a global laboratory network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Life Science required; ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience in Special Chemistry preferred.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Predominantly perform Electrophoresis testing and assist with other Special Chemistry testing.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
