Job summary

AccentCare is seeking a Special Attendant to provide personal care assistance to clients at home, following an established service plan. The role emphasizes flexibility for scheduling, on-call rotations, and ongoing service to prevent breaks in care.

The ideal candidate will have at least six months of in-home care experience, be bilingual (English and Spanish) if possible, and possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Qualifications

• Six continuous months of experience delivering personal care tasks.
• Nurse's aide registration with DOH is optional if listed as a nurse's aide.
• Fluency in English; Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance to clients in accordance with the service plan.
• Initiate services to prevent a break in care and provide ongoing support.
• Assist clients to function in home and community settings.
• Be flexible for scheduling and participate in on-call rotations.
• Report significant changes in client condition to supervisor as required.
• Maintain client safety and comfort through routine checks.

What You Need to Know

Special Attendant Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing personal care assistance services to the client in accordance with the established service plan to enable the client to function in the home and community.
• Special Attendants are utilized to initiate services, prevent a break in service, and provide on-going service.
• Responsible for providing personal assistance services to the client in accordance with the established service plan to enable the client to function in the home and community.
• Must be flexible for scheduling. Participate in an On-Call rotation. Perform services as identified on the Service Plan.
• Report to the supervisor any significant changes in client's circumstances or condition. Report emergency situations to appropriate individuals in accordance with written policies.
• Check for safety measures to be taken on an on-going basis for client and attendant protection.

• Six continuous months of experience in delivering personal care tasks in family care, primary home care, personal assistance services, client managed attendant services;
  • or listed as a nurse's aide on the Department of Health or nurse's aide registry.
