The California Department of Justice invites applications for the Special Agent Trainee position in the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. There is a 12 Month Limited Term, full-time placement with a day shift, in-office work, and a starting salary in the range of $5,139 to $6,931 per month

The mission of the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA) as the State’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit(\“Unit\”) is to investigate and prosecute, both criminally and civilly, (a) health care providers who defraud the Medi-Cal program and (b) those who abuse or neglect elders and dependent adults in care facilities.

Under the close direction of a Special Agent Supervisor, the Special Agent Trainee receives comprehensive, on-the-job training in the application of the principles and techniques of Medi-Cal fraud investigation and enforcement activities, upon successful completion of Peace Officer Basic Training Academy. As part of a team, the Special Agent Trainee assists with complex criminal investigations and investigates allegations of Medi-Cal provider fraud and allegations of patient abuse and neglect in care facilities. May be required to conduct collateral duties as necessary. In accordance with Penal Code Section 13651, duties shall be conducted with an emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving.
