Qualifications

The Resource Protection department ensures the security and safety of our rail operations. Using comprehensive strategies and advanced technology, the team safeguards transportation, prevents theft, and manages risks, working closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain service integrity and reliability.

Some travel is required.

Training is provided at our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, TX, and on-site at the location with an internal trainer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Protecting company assets and resources including personnel, property, and customer property entrusted to us.
  • Conducting investigations into corporate and criminal matters, providing reports, and testifying in court as needed.
  • Handling trespassers on company property and making arrests when appropriate.
  • Advising company officials on crime reduction, safety, responding to emergencies, supervising security guards, and training staff.
  • Performing patrols of facilities, rail property, and trains, especially high-value shipments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of basic police training at a recognized academy
  • Meet peace officer standards in the state of employment and maintain a valid license
  • Meet BNSF Resource Protection standards as a Special Agent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to use company computer systems for reports and databases
  • Physical and psychological fitness, passing evaluations and background checks
  • Successful completion of required training
  • Broad knowledge of railroad operations, emergency handling, criminal law, and procedures
  • Leadership ability in stressful situations
  • Willingness to relocate within 50 miles of the work location
  • At least 18 months of full-time law enforcement experience with a government or railroad agency

  • Bachelor's Degree
