Failure to obtain certification within one year will result in termination from this position.**Preferred:*** Central Sterile Processing Technician**Experience/Skills:****Required:*** Knowledge of sterilization standards/procedures and associated terminology.* Proficiency with basic computer functions. * Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Leadership Team, an SPD Technician II will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, high-level disinfect (HLD), sterilize, store, and distribute instruments, devices and medical equipment throughout the UMass Memorial Medical Center, along with other associated tasks. They will utilize infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace. They will contribute towards quality improvement and function independently as technicians. * **I. Major Responsibilities:** 1. Charge i. Expected to take charge if they’re the most senior technician (weekday or weekend). Others can volunteer, but they need to take charge if no one is interested. (Will rotate with multiple SPD Tech II’s)2. Continuous Quality Improvement i. Performs quality audits3. Decontamination i.
