Job summary

Valley Children's Healthcare is seeking a SPD Floor Lead to oversee daily workflow for Tech I–III, ensuring proper cleaning, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and endoscopes.

The role requires strong communications, instrument knowledge, and data-entry accuracy within hospital standards; five years of experience is preferred and credentials listed are required. This position is based in California and is full-time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CIS - Certified Instrument Specialist or CRCST or CBSPDT certification is required.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in sterile processing or instrumentation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily workflow and assigns Tech I–III staff to cleaning, inspecting, assembling, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of all instruments and devices.
• Ensures accurate data entry into the instrument tracking system.
• Follows department policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.

Job Summary:

The SPD Technician Floor Lead is accountable for the daily work flow and assignments of Tech I, Tech II, and Tech III staff, to ensure cleaning, inspecting, assembly, high-level disinfection, and/or sterilization of all instrumentation, medical devices, and flexible endoscopes for the hospital. Responsible for accurately entering data into an instrument tracking system. Follows departmental policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Education

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)

Licenses and Certifications

• CIS - Certified Instrument Specialist - HSPA - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (required)
• CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician - HSPA - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (required) Or
• CBSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certified Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (required)

Work Experience

• Minimum five (5) years A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience, which includes specialty instrumentation, devices, and equipment. (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of instrumentation, medical devices, and endoscopes.
• Computer Skills Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills.
