Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an Instrument Tech to join the team at Dignity Health – St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, California. In this role, you will ensure the availability, cleanliness, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to established sterilization procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, certification as a Central Service Technician, and ideally 6-12 months of relevant experience. The pay range is $28.61 to $35.96 per hour.

Qualifications

Job Summary

As our Instrument Tech, you will ensure the availability, cleanliness, and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proper procedures for cleaning, packaging, labeling, processing, and storing clean and sterile supplies.
• Sort and assemble surgical instruments following lists and arrange items in appropriate instrument trays.
• Separate delicate and basic instruments, electrical cords, cables, and process according to established procedures.
• Sort and identify special instruments for processing (e.g., power equipment, scopes).
• Inspect each instrument for cleanliness, alignment, and function.
• Check for missing parts and straighten malleable instruments.
• Report malfunctioning, missing, and broken instrumentation to appropriate personnel.
• Clean and maintain equipment essential to effective sterilization, including ultrasonic machines, washer decontaminators, steam, Sterrad, and ethylene oxide sterilizers.
• Operate steam, Sterrad, and ethylene oxide sterilizers, washer decontaminators, and ultrasonic cleaners following proper procedures.
• Use proper loading/unloading procedures.
• Upon completion of sterilization, store product in SPD sterile area and return processed instrumentation, instrument trays, and equipment to appropriate locations.

Job Requirements

• High school graduate or GED, upon hire.
• Certified and registered Central Service Technician, upon hire, or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor, upon hire, or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six (6) to twelve months of related experience, upon hire.

Pay Range

$28.61 – $35.96 per hour
