Job summary

Saint Peter's Health Care System in New Jersey seeks an SPD Equipment Technician for evenings in Central Services. You will support instrument handling, decontamination, preparation of patient equipment, and inventory duties.

This role requires attention to safety, HIPAA compliance, ability to lift 25 pounds, and effective communication. Prior experience in sterile processing preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

• One year of current experience in a comparable job preferred.
• Knowledge of Central Sterile Department patient care supplies and equipment.
• Compliant with Infection Prevention, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards.
• Ability to wear PPE (mask, goggles, gloves) as needed.
• Read, write and communicate effectively.
• Work independently and with others.
• Be organized and complete tasks promptly.
• Maintain accurate records and be detail oriented.
• Understand basic medical/surgical terminology.
• Comply with HIPAA confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Central Services

The SPD Equipment Technician Evenings will:

• Make rounds to designated areas to collect items.
• Decontaminate reusable instruments, equipment and supplies including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units.
• Prepare patient equipment for use.
• Restock procedure carts.
• Fill requests for medical/surgical supplies, procedure trays and patient equipment.
• Document and maintain inventory of supplies.

Requirements

• One year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification preferred.
• Knowledge of Central Sterile Department patient care supplies and equipment.
• Work requires the ability to be compliant with Infection Prevention, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
• Work requires the ability to be compliant in wearing personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, and latex/non A latex gloves) as needed.
• Work requires the ability to read, write and effectively communicate.
• Work requires the ability to be work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
• Work requires the ability to be organized and complete work assignments in a timely manner.
• Work requires the ability to maintain accurate records and be detail oriented.
• Work requires the ability to understand basic medical/surgical terminology.
• Work requires the ability to be compliant with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
• Work requires standing and walking for prolonged period (90% of work time) as well as occasional lifting of equipment, supplies, etc., and pushing of autoclave cart and surgical case and Exchange carts. Ability to lift 25 pounds required.

Salary Range:17.30 - 23.36 USD

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
