Job summary

Remotely is seeking a Big Data & Backend Engineer for Spatial ETL in a hybrid/remote setup. The role targets engineers who manage heavy data loads and robust backend pipelines, using Python, PostgreSQL, and containerized workflows.

You will automate ETL, optimize complex data processes, and ensure system stability at scale, with opportunities for international collaboration and visa support where applicable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or extensive backend experience.
• Strong Python skills with SQLAlchemy and Pandas.
• Deep PostgreSQL performance tuning.
• Mindset focused on clean code, stability, and scalability.
• Eligibility: local and international candidates (Chancenkarte supported). English required; German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Bulk Processing: automate download and processing of massive data dumps.
• ETL Engineering: build high-performance ETL pipelines for central PostgreSQL architecture.
• Database Governance: ensure idempotency, deduplication, and monitoring for multi-million row updates.
• Container Orchestration: deploy and maintain Docker environments for ingestion tasks.
