Summary

The Contract Spatial Designer is a part-time/freelance position in the creative department that requires 3D design experience and superior aesthetic sensibilities. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to manage and design for a wide range of projects and brands. Candidates should have a strong understanding of construction and material options to ensure we are getting the best product based on the allocated budget.

The Contract Spatial Designer is a visualizer of the physical realm. From guest flows, space layouts, custom design elements, exhibit booths, stage design, and mobile experiences, the Spatial Designer focuses on bringing elements to life through floor plans & high-quality renderings. The Spatial Designer works closely with graphic designers to integrate brand identities within all renderings. They also work closely with creative strategists to conceptualize and design physical elements that amplify the attendee flow and experience along with producers and vendors to coordinate fabrication. The Contract Spatial Designer is expected to bring a strong level of creativity and strategy to the concept development phase of new and existing projects and technical expertise to the production phase of live projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality renderings and floor plans
  • A highly collaborative designer who will work closely with other designers, creative directors, and producers
  • Create spec and technical drawings as needed by fabrication vendors, AV vendors, etc.
  • Work with creative strategists and producers for creative decisions regarding design solutions and budget limitations
  • Maintains high skill levels in software programs required to perform assigned job functions and assist with the needs of other creative team members
  • Provides project management and fab vendor management when necessary
  • Consults with and presents to clients as needed – helping to illuminate design thinking and solutions that meet client objectives
  • Superior file management and organizational methodology, following department guidelines
  • Reports to the Group Creative Director
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
  • The position may be fully remote


Qualifications

  • BA or equivalent required in a design-focused major (architecture, industrial design, 3D design, theater)
  • +2 years of experience in an industry utilizing spatial design preferably with an agency, fabricator, and/or architectural firm
  • Experience working with brands, trade shows, and events
  • High proficiency in:
  • Rhinoceros 3D, Sketchup, 3D Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, AutoCAD
  • V-Ray, Twinmotion, Enscape or other rendering software
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Strong conceptual abilities (developing ideas/concepts individually and as part of a team)
  • Strong client service, self-motivation, and time management skills required
  • Must be an effective project leader, a clear communicator and consensus builder, highly organized, very detail-oriented, and able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-paced environment under a tight deadline
  • Certain projects may require travel, if needed, and work occasional nights/weekends
