Job Summary:

The Bartender sets up, prepares and serves beverages and breaks down bars in safe and efficient compliance with Company policies and procedures, brand standards, and federal, state and local regulations. Processes guest checks and payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card and room charge processing and accounting policies and procedures. Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items and safety hazards to management. Reports any deviations from policies, procedures, brand standards and regulations to management.

The ideal candidate is friendly, optimistic, detail-oriented, has an outgoing personality, enjoys working with people and working on a team; has a proven passion and ability to anticipate and exceed our guests' needs; has knowledge of food and beverage operations; can comprehend and deliver service standards; excels at guest and team member relations and etiquette; and comprehends to importance of complying with applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.

General Requirements

  • Set up bar in compliance with policies, procedures and brand standards.
  • Prepare and serve drinks following policies and procedures, proper food handling and serving techniques, alcohol awareness, and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Immediately notify management of incidents involving possible excessive alcohol consumption or an impaired condition.
  • Processes guest checks and payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card and room charge processing and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Report all tips in compliance with company policy and IRS regulations.
  • Maintain clean bar and ashtrays including proper removal of trash, empty glasses, etc.
  • Thoroughly clean bar and properly return equipment and supplies to proper areas at end of shift.
  • Ensure all liquor is properly secured before, during and after shift.
  • Perform assigned side-work.
  • On time and at work when scheduled, and in proper uniform.
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.

Fundamental Requirements:

  • Special knowledge or skills necessary for this position:
    • Minimum legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
    • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Licenses, certification or registrations required for this position:
    • Alcohol awareness certification
    • TIPS Training
  • Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service. Ability to understand and comply with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage. Ability to operate a phone and other office equipment. Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High school education plus bartending training.
  • Two or more years of related experience.
  • Alcohol awareness certification and familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment. While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents, processes requests and operates office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier and fax. Physical requirements include extended periods of standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle.
