Entry Level Machine Spark Operator – 3rd shift

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd shift Entry Level Machine Operator - Sparker in our Turners Falls, MA manufacturing facility. Individuals will be responsible for duties including measuring, inspecting, testing, and re-spooling wire and cable for shipping or next operations. Targeted job training provided for all skill levels starting on day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $19.28/hour, with a $3.00/hour 3rd shift differential.

Job Duties:

• Work from factory orders, customer requirements, and instructions to meet specifications regarding conductor size, insulation, sparking voltage, repairs, reel details, sparking sequence, and lengths.
• Set up wire or cable on sparking machine, select proper components, apply sparking voltage, operate at maximum speed, test wire with voltage testers, and check continuity for defects.
• Visually inspect wire/cables during operation to detect sparking defects, identify defective insulation, and cut out defective pieces.
• Use micrometer to check conductor size, inspect insulation appearance, and ensure proper centering; tag reels for next steps.
• Report any malfunctions, defective materials, or unusual conditions.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe condition and observe safety regulations.
• Willingness to cross-train on other machines and work a flexible schedule.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Basic arithmetic skills, including decimals and fractions; ability to use measuring instruments.
• Team player, detail-oriented, eager to learn.

Physical Qualifications:

• Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and frequent movement.
• Long periods of standing and continuous attention to repetitive work.
• Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, and temperature variations.
