Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a 3rd shift Entry Level Machine Operator - Sparker for our manufacturing facility in Turners Falls, MA. The role involves a variety of duties including measuring, inspecting, testing, and re-spooling wire and cable for shipping or subsequent operations. Comprehensive job training is provided from day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $19.28/hour, with a $3.00/hour 3rd shift differential.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate from factory orders, customer requirements, and verbal instructions to meet specifications related to conductor size, insulation, sparking voltage, and reel specifications.
  • Set up wire or cable on sparking machines, select proper settings, apply sparking voltage, and operate at optimal speeds.
  • Test wires and cables for quality, check for defects, and ensure proper dimensions using micrometers and visual inspections.
  • Tag reels according to specifications and direct them to the next process.
  • Detect, report, and address any unusual conditions, defective materials, or malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Cross-train on other machines as needed and work a flexible schedule.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic, decimals, fractions, and use of measurement instruments.
  • Team-oriented, detail-focused, and eager to learn.
Physical Requirements:
  • Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs., moving, pushing, and pulling.
  • Long periods of standing and maintaining alertness during repetitive tasks.
  • Work environment may include noise, fumes, dust, and temperature extremes.
