Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a 1st shift Entry Level Machine Operator - Sparker at our Turners Falls, MA manufacturing facility. This role involves performing various duties including measuring, inspecting, testing, and re-spooling wire and cable for shipping or subsequent operations. Targeted job training is provided from day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $19.28/hour

Job Duties
  • Work from factory orders, customer requirements, and verbal instructions to meet specifications related to conductor size, insulation, sparking voltage, repairs, reel types, sparking sequence, and more.
  • Set up wire or cable on sparking machines, select proper equipment, apply prescribed sparking voltage, and operate at optimal speed.
  • Test wire and cables for proper voltage and continuity, visually inspect for defects, and identify defective insulation for removal.
  • Use micrometers and other instruments to verify conductor size and insulation appearance.
  • Tag reels according to specifications and prepare for next operations.
  • Detect and report malfunctions, maintain equipment and work area cleanliness, and follow safety regulations.
  • Cross-train on other machines and adapt to a flexible schedule.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic, measurement instruments, and specifications.
  • Ability to work in a team, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Physical ability to perform moderate physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for long periods, and working in potentially noisy or dusty environments.
