Job summary

Peoria Public Schools is seeking a full-time Foreign Language - Spanish teacher. The incumbent will plan and implement language instruction, create a conducive learning environment, ensure student safety, and maintain thorough lesson plans and records.

Regular communication with students and families is expected. Responsibilities include evaluating students, reporting progress, and supporting district policies while maintaining professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Illinois teaching certificate with proper endorsement and registered in Peoria County.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a program of study employing instructional methods and materials that meet District goals and objectives.
• Create a classroom and school environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Assume responsibility for the safety and well being of students under his/her direct supervision.
• Maintain written lesson plans with clear objectives for all lessons and submit for administrative review as required.
• Evaluate students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain and submit reports and records as required.
• Communicate with students and parents or guardians on a regular basis.
• Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attend meetings and serve on committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or administrative designee.
