Job summary

Bethalto Community Unit School District 8 is seeking a dedicated Spanish Teacher for the upcoming 27-28 school year. The role requires a valid IL license with a World Language-Spanish endorsement and a passion for fostering language skills across diverse learners.

The ideal candidate will develop engaging lessons, support student growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and contribute to a culturally inclusive classroom environment. This is a full-time on-site position in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a World Language-Spanish endorsement.
• Secondary education Spanish certification is required.
• Strong bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Experience teaching in a high school setting is desirable.
• Ability to design engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans.
• Excellent organizational skills for classroom management and routines.
• Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Spanish lesson plans aligned with standards.
• Teach Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening across proficiency levels.
• Create a supportive classroom atmosphere encouraging participation and culture.
• Assess progress with quizzes, tests, and assignments; provide feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate language and culture schoolwide.
• Organize extracurricular activities related to Spanish language and culture.
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, and administrators.
• Stay current with best practices and participate in professional development.
