Second Baptist School University-Model® (SBSUM) Cypress Campus is seeking a Part-Time Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Spanish Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction that supports student learning, integrate biblical truth throughout the curriculum, and model a daily walk with Jesus Christ while helping students develop language skills, cultural understanding, and academic confidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; degree emphasis in Spanish, education or related field preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
  • A strong Christian testimony and a calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to all students.
  • Prior teaching experience in Spanish or world language instruction preferred.
  • Customer service mindset and ability to build relationships within the school community.
  • Willingness to lead and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work habits, collaboration, and growth mindset.
  • Proficiency in technology and strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Commitment to fundraising efforts as able.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Spanish lessons aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Teach Spanish vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation, confidence and growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs and readiness levels.
  • Establish and communicate learning objectives to students and parents.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, projects, quizzes and assessments.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain biblical discipline standards.
  • Communicate clearly and work closely with parents regarding student progress and classroom matters.
  • Stay current on best practices in world language instruction.
  • Attend all required meetings, training sessions, parent conferences, devotions and school functions.
  • Supervise co-curricular activities, organizations and outings as assigned.
  • Comply with SBSUM, Second Baptist School and Second Baptist Church policies and procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION.

Second Baptist School University-Model® (SBSUM) Cypress Campus is currently seeking a PART-TIME SPANISH TEACHER for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Position Title: Spanish Teacher
  • Reports To: Dean of Cypress Campus
  • Work Calendar: Ten Months
JOB SUMMARY.

An SBSUM teacher is expected to deliver high-quality instruction that supports student learning, integrates biblical truth throughout the curriculum and models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ. The Spanish Teacher will cultivate a love for language learning while helping students develop communication skills, cultural understanding and academic confidence.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Spanish lessons aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Teach Spanish vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation, confidence and growth.
  • Demonstrate mastery of assigned subject matter and effective instructional practices.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs and readiness levels.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives to students and parents.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework, projects, quizzes and assessments.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain biblical discipline standards in accordance with school expectations.
  • Communicate clearly and work closely with parents regarding student progress and classroom matters.
  • Update lesson plans, grades and required records accurately and on time.
  • Stay current on best practices in world language instruction and educational excellence.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.
  • Attend all required meetings, training sessions, parent conferences, devotions and school functions.
  • Supervise co-curricular activities, organizations and outings as assigned.
  • Comply with all SBSUM, Second Baptist School and Second Baptist Church policies and procedures.
CANDIDATE SUMMARY.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must be willing and able to:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform other related work to accomplish the objectives of the school.

Ideal candidates should have three or more years of teaching experience and/or hold teacher certification from a state agency or school accreditation agency.

An advanced degree, University-Model experience, and prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and Second Baptist School are considered a plus.
