Job summary

SOSi is seeking Spanish Linguists nationwide to support federal law enforcement with live monitoring, translation, transcription and interpretation. The role requires flexibility for shift work including nights and weekends, and the ability to work on short notice.

Candidates should be self-starters with computer proficiency. The ideal linguist will be proficient in English and Spanish, able to produce accurate written translations and summaries, and comfortable working in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with legal work status.
• Minimum of one year translation experience.
• Testing demonstrating English and target language proficiency within five years prior to commencing work.
• Certified or able to become certified in language proficiency.
• Familiarity with Intercept Systems is a plus (e.g., JSI VoiceBox).
• Strong oral communication with law enforcement officials.
• Native fluency in language(s) other than English.
• Excellent command of English for translations and summaries.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live communications and provide immediate verbal and written summaries in English.
• Transcribe audio/video and written communications between source language and English.
• Interpret consecutively or simultaneously as required.
• Validate translations and maintain quality control of the final output.
• Provide concise summaries of intercepted communications for law enforcement.
