The Catholic elementary school teacher is responsible for delivering instruction based on the approved curricula and mission of the school, creating a safe, orderly, and Catholic learning environment for students.

Responsibilities
Planning
  • Create lesson plans aligned with the Archdiocese of Washington standards.
  • Utilize assessment data to adjust instruction and meet student needs.
  • Design learner-centered lessons addressing diverse needs.
Instruction
  • Deliver a balanced program incorporating various teaching methods.
  • Plan and execute individual and group activities, including lectures and hands-on exercises.
  • Assess student progress through formal and informal methods.
  • Differentiate instruction based on assessment data.
Classroom Management
  • Establish procedures to maximize instructional time.
  • Create clear rules fostering a positive environment.
  • Maintain mutual respect and high achievement expectations.
  • Integrate Catholic values into interactions.
Communication
  • Maintain accurate grade records and communicate progress to parents and administration.
  • Provide detailed instructions and rubrics for assignments.
  • Use various communication channels to inform about student progress.
  • Hold parent conferences as needed.
Catholic Identity
  • Support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and practices.

Qualifications

  • Current teacher certification in MD, VA, or DC (to be obtained within 3 years)
