Church World Service in the United States is seeking an Interpreter to provide professional interpretation and translation services for refugee clients. The role is an in-office position with responsibilities including confidentiality, advocacy, and documentation within client case files.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, prior interpretation/translation experience preferred, and mandatory Spanish language fluency with strong English skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent life experience.
• Previous interpretation/translation experience is desirable.
• Spanish language fluency is required; strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Offer professional interpretation and translation services to refugee clients, with mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle.
• Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
• Advocate on behalf of refugees and refugee-serving agencies.
• Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain logs.
• Attend trainings and conferences as requested by supervisor.
• Stay informed about refugee and immigrant issues and available services.
• Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements.
• Perform duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.
• Work varied hours, including some night and weekend work.
