Job summary

DDI Vantage is seeking a Spanish Interpreter to provide oral interpretation and written translation for Early Intervention staff and the families served. This casual/prn position may work up to 10 hours per week.

The interpreter will schedule visits, convey information from service providers, translate IFSP documents, and accompany staff on visits to non-English speaking families. Confidentiality and timely documentation are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year interpreting/translation experience.
• Experience with children and families; knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Background screening, TB test, and motor vehicle records checks will be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Schedule initial family visit appointments and communicate information to families.
• Provide accurate interpretation of DDIV services to families.
• Translate IFSP documents for families as requested.
• Accompany providers on visits and translate home visit reports.
• Assist families with questions for service providers during interpretation.
• Participate in staff in-service training and meetings.
• Complete written documentation timely to ensure program compliance.
• Demonstrate professionalism and safeguard confidentiality of all clients.

Description

The Spanish Interpreter provides oral interpretation and written translation services for DDI Vantage Early Intervention staff and the children and families served. This is a casual/prn position that may work up to 10-hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Schedules appointments for the initial family visit, confirms other scheduled appointments, and makes phone calls to families to communicate information from the service providers for families speaking a language other than English.
• Provides precise interpretation of DDIV services to the family.
• Translates Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for families as requested.
• Accompanies service providers on visits to non-English speaking families and serves as an oral interpreter and translator of home visit reports.
• Provides interpretation to families when they have questions for service providers.
• Assists in child-find activities.
• Participates in staff in-service training, serves on committees, and attends workshops and conferences as requested or approved.
• Completes written documentation in a timely manner to ensure program compliance.
• Attends team meetings as necessary and all mandatory DDI Vantage meetings.
• Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects of the job.
• Safeguards the confidentiality of all clients at all times.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of related experience in interpreting and translating another language.
• Experience working with children and families; knowledge of child development and family dynamics; and knowledge of community resources.
• A state and federal background screen, TB test, and motor vehicle records check will be conducted on all new hires.
