Job summary

Spartanburg Community College seeks a Spanish faculty member to teach a diverse student body, develop and maintain course materials, and assist with program design and college activities.

Responsibilities include maintaining office hours, advising students, serving on committees, promoting the college mission, and engaging in professional development and community outreach. Teaching may be on any campus or by distance learning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Spanish or Master's with 18 graduate hours in Spanish.
• Experience teaching college students and dual credit high school students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; maintain office hours; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals.
• TEACHING PERFORMANCE – The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
• INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.
• INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT – The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
• STUDENT ADVISEMENT – The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
• COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES – Participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.
• PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
