Position: Dual Language Immersion Teacher for Spanish Elementary Teacher (1.0)
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day, 194 duty days
Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year
Pay and Benefits: Pay and benefits are in accordance with the teacher labor agreement - ISD 622 Human Resources
Primary Objective:
- Perform professional classroom teaching work under the general supervision of a Principal or Assistant Principal.
- Collaborate in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, and others as appropriate, to address the needs of students, develop effective teaching and learning practices in English and the target language, and implement effective dual language practices.
- Conduct lesson planning using commonly accepted professional dual language immersion practices consistent with school/district approved curriculum.
- Utilize research-based instructional strategies to enhance teaching and learning relevance.
Qualifications:
- The appropriate teaching certification.
- Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, and peer collaboration.
- Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas.
- Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods, and current best practices.
- Knowledge of students’ learning styles and needs.
- Knowledge of multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques.
- Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
- Skill in classroom presentation and organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in the target language.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district goals and student needs.
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse populations.
- Ability to evaluate student performance and foster higher student achievement.
- Ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
- Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.
- Demonstrated content knowledge and ability to use precise language in English and the target language.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of effective strategies in dual language education.
- Knowledge and skill in culturally responsive teaching.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior successful experience in an urban setting working with a diverse student population is highly desirable.
