Job summary

Fresno Superior Court seeks a full-time Interpreter (Spanish only) to deliver accurate courtroom interpretation and related services for proceedings, witnesses, defendants, attorneys, and the public. The interpreter will work in courtrooms, hearing rooms, and information counters to ensure clear communication across languages.

You must hold a valid California Certified Court Interpreter certificate (or be registered as a Court Interpreter).

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Certified Court Interpreter certificate or be registered as a Court Interpreter by the Judicial Council of California.
• Interpret English and Spanish with accuracy, impartiality, and clear communication in court settings.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures; ability to research terminology as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for judges, attorneys, witnesses, and the public in court using simultaneous and consecutive modes.
• Provide sight translations of documents such as petitions and forms when required.
• Maintain logs and reports, and coordinate with court staff to ensure timely interpretation services.
