Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Greenbelt, MD is seeking a Mechanical Integration Tech to support spaceflight and ground support activities. You will perform integration tasks for spacecraft, instruments, and related hardware, with some duties outside standard hours and a focus on clean, organized workspaces.

Responsibilities include integrating space flight components, providing engineering management for spacecraft and MGSE, and responding quickly to project requests while maintaining lab readiness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Experience with integration engineering for space flight or ground support hardware.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including responding to urgent requests.
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining clean workspaces.
  • Familiarity with relevant processes and documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanically integrates space flight components into finished spacecraft or experiments ready for launch.
  • Provide engineering and management for the integration of spacecraft, instruments, space flight hardware, and ground support equipment.
  • Respond promptly to requests from project teams, including after-hours support as needed.
  • Maintain and utilize assigned facilities for integration and handling operations; ensure lab areas are neat and free of excess materials.
  • Perform integration operations in all designated project spaces at GSFC.
  • Coordinate transportation, and conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations at the launch site.
  • Deliver mechanical services for space flight, atmospheric flight, and MGSE, including payload transporters and environmental control systems.
  • Carry out work based on Work Order Authorizations (WOAs), providing technical data such as drawings, specifications, and step-by-step procedures.
