Apex Technology, Inc. seeks a PCBA Manufacturing Development Engineer to design, implement, and scale high-reliability PCBA manufacturing for spacecraft electronics.

You will own process development from prototype builds through production ramp, partnering with avionics engineering, manufacturing technicians, quality, and suppliers to ensure robust assembly, high yield, and consistent hardware quality. The role requires deep PCBA manufacturing knowledge, hands-on SMT experience, and a proven

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Electrical/Manufacturing/Mechanical).
• 4+ years in PCBA/manufacturing engineering or SMT process development.
• Hands-on SMT assembly, soldering, reflow profiling, PCBA inspection.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
• Experience solving PCBA manufacturability and assembly challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes for spacecraft avionics.
• Own process development from prototype to production ramp.
• Improve SMT assembly: printing, placement, reflow, inspection.
• Develop through-hole, selective soldering, hand soldering, and rework processes.
• Define process parameters, inspection criteria, and workmanship standards.
• Collaborate with design to address manufacturability challenges.
• Support equipment selection, tooling, and line readiness.
• Investigate and resolve PCBA defects and reliability issues.
• Improve first-pass yield, repeatability, and throughput.
• Work with QA on root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Support board-level inspection and testing (AOI, X-ray, ICT).
• Coordinate with external partners to ensure process consistency.
