Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a PCB Layout Engineer to own the design of high-performance boards powering spacecraft systems.

You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to translate schematics into manufacturable layouts while balancing signal integrity, power integrity, thermal performance, and reliability in a space environment. The role involves driving multilayer PCB design across power, compute, and communications subsystems, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 1-5+ years of PCB layout experience on complex electronic systems.
• Experience with industry-standard PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics).
• Multilayer boards with controlled impedance, high-speed interfaces, and dense component placement.
• Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC considerations.
• Experience creating manufacturing documentation and supporting board fabrication and assembly.

Responsibilities

• Layout of complex multilayer PCBs for spacecraft avionics, power systems, RF systems, and compute hardware.
• Translate schematics into production-ready PCB designs with SI/PI considerations.
• Define stackups and routing strategies for high-speed interfaces and power nets.
• Perform SI/PI analysis, impedance control, and design rule checks.
• Coordinate with mechanical team for proper board fit and thermal performance.
• Produce fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing docs.
• Collaborate with suppliers for board fabrication and bring-up activities.
• Promote DFM, DFA, and DFT across design processes.
• Help develop internal PCB design standards and layouts methodologies.
