Job summary

Katalyst Space in Colorado is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and build spacecraft mechanical systems. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required or expected.
  • Strong grounding in mechanics, statics and dynamics, structures, materials, or heat transfer with clear reasoning.
  • Hands-on mechanical engineering experience from internships, projects, or labs is expected.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous mechanical problems, build models, and validate with analysis or tests.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, analysis, manufacturing, integration and test of spacecraft mechanical systems.
  • Own mechanical engineering problems from requirements and concept through CAD, analysis, drawing release, fabrication and test.
  • Work hands-on with CAD, drawings, analysis tools, prototypes, flight hardware, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate across avionics, GNC, propulsion, software, systems, and manufacturing to understand interfaces.
  • Document requirements, assumptions, interfaces, tolerances, analyses, procedures, and decisions.
