Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, build, test/analysis, and integration of spacecraft structure and mechanisms. You will own cradle-to-grave hardware while collaborating with cross-functional teams fornext-generation propulsion vehicles.

The role requires CAD proficiency, FEA capability, and experience in mechanical design with space hardware. On-site position with competitive compensation and growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of demonstrated mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with CAD software and ability to learn new tools.
• Ability to model complex shapes including lofting and surfacing.
• Experience with hardware fabrication and testing.
• Collaborative work across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware development from concept through launch.
• Develop cradle-to-grave road map for your hardware.
• Set driving loads and design primary/secondary structures.
• Perform hand calculations, FEA, and kinematic analysis.
• Source components to support design intent.
• Integrate manufacturing trades into conceptual design.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to mature hardware.
• Communicate with propulsion, electrical, software teams.
• Produce engineering drawings for manufacturing.
• Create test plans and support qualification testing.
• Work with internal/external teams to fabricate assemblies.
• Update designs for continuous improvement.
