Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Manager, Spacecraft Integration & Test to lead a vertical‑integration team responsible for flight spacecraft systems, test campaigns, and readiness reviews.

You will own end‑to‑end spacecraft integration, mentor engineers, and collaborate across Design, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure design‑for‑testability and on‑orbit readiness. The role requires strong test background, leadership, and eligibility for required clearances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or other engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in a systems test engineer or other hands‑on engineering role.
  • 1+ years of experience as a team lead, manager, or technical leader.
  • Deep working knowledge of spacecraft subsystems (e.g., C&DH, ADCS, EPS, Propulsion, Thermal) and their system‑level interactions.
  • US citizenship is required, due to program requirements. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute functional management, including 1‑on‑1s, performance reviews, and career development of direct reports.
  • Hire, mentor, and guide test engineering teams while representing the I&T department during milestone and flight readiness reviews.
  • Drive standardized test specifications, documentation templates, and optimized integration workflows.
  • Own the spacecraft integration and test lifecycle from early design phases through launch site operations, deployment, and on‑orbit commissioning.
  • Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality engineering teams to trace requirements and ensure design‑for‑testability.
  • Oversee test procedures, system‑level V&V plans, and automated test scripts for functional and performance testing.
  • Lead mechanical integration and electrical verification across core satellite subsystems (avionics, propulsion, power, thermal, RF).
  • Direct multi‑disciplinary anomaly investigations and document non‑conformances to improve future hardware iterations.
  • Manage system‑level environmental test campaigns (TVAC, vibration, shock, acoustics, EMI/EMC).
