Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies Corp. is seeking a Tooling Engineer - Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to design, fabricate, and maintain tooling for spacecraft assembly, testing, lifting and handling at our Northern California facility.

You will own the tooling lifecycle, collaborate with design and production, and work with external vendors to deliver safe, scalable equipment. Responsibilities include defining fixture specs, performing hand calculations and FEA, and developing maintenance and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of mechanical design, analysis and fabrication experience.
• Hands-on experience with handling, lifting, or integrating large assemblies.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and drawing packages per ASME Y14.5.
• Strong communication and attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own cradle-to-grave design, fabrication and commissioning of fixtures and tooling.
• Manage configuration and lifecycle of ground support equipment using PLM/PDM.
• Define tooling interfaces and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with design engineering and production to specify fixtures.
• Work with external vendors during design, fabrication, testing, commissioning.
• Perform mechanical analysis via hand calculations and FEA.
• Produce prototype tooling to unblock production roadblocks.
• Develop maintenance plans for test fixtures and tooling.
