Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for Automation & Tooling in Space to design and deliver MGSE, tooling and fixtures for our production lines. You will manage the tooling lifecycle from concept through release, qualification, and sustainment, serving Space Vehicle Integration, Sensors & Avionics, and Propulsion & Energetics teams.

You will ensure tool design supports cleanroom operations, DFA/DFM for early integration, and adherence to schedule with long‑lead procurement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years designing production tooling, fixtures or MGSE for aerospace/space/defense or high‑reliability industries.
  • Portfolio of tooling/MGSE designed and released to drawings and used on the floor.
  • Strong CAD proficiency (NX, SolidWorks or CREO) with GD&T on tooling drawings.
  • Structural sizing and load path analysis for handling and lift hardware.
  • Experience designing tooling for cleanroom environments with material/coating/lubricant choices.
  • Experience procuring tooling/capital equipment to facility/program schedules.
  • Demonstrated improvement from tooling/automation (cycle time, ergonomic risk, defects).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical ground support equipment and production tooling in CAD through to released drawings; handling, lift, rotation and transport fixtures, integration stands, and alignment/torque tooling.
  • Own tooling/MGSE procurement runway against the facility schedule including long‑lead items and delivery dates.
  • Qualify tooling and MGSE before flight hardware; load path analysis, proof load testing, lift certification, fit checks, first‑article use.
  • Design tooling for cleanroom compatibility; material, coating, lubricant, surface finish selections to prevent particle generation.
  • Design and deploy semi‑automated assembly stations and automation where appropriate to reduce touch labor.
  • Drive manufacturability and assembly considerations into vehicle/subassembly designs before CDR from tooling perspective.
  • Use Foundry/Teamcenter as the tooling system of record for definition, configuration, calibration and maintenance status.
  • Own tooling sustainment: calibration, spares, wear/damage disposition, changes from design changes or nonconformances.
