Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Division is seeking motivated GNC Engineers to design, analyze, and test spacecraft attitude control and navigation systems for DoD, NASA, and commercial missions. You will develop flight algorithms, perform subsystem analyses, and support verification efforts across simulations and hardware-in-the-loop environments.

Ideal candidates have advanced degrees in aerospace/mechanical engineering, strong MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++ skills, and demonstrated experience with GNC

Qualifications

  • Be completing or has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Be majoring in or having majored in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • GPA 3.4+ preferred; strong academic record in relevant engineering disciplines
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++; experience with embedded systems

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude and position control loops using time and frequency domain techniques
  • Design, analyze, and tune sequential filters (e.g. Kalman filters) for attitude determination and relative navigation
  • Develop and test flight algorithms for the GNC subsystem and support flight software qualification testing
  • Analyze spacecraft GNC subsystem performance using simulations and analytic tools
  • Support early design phase concepts including actuator sizing; sensor placement and rendezvous analyses
  • Develop simulation models for sensors, actuators, dynamics, and space environment
