Job summary

European Space Agency is seeking a System Engineer (Space Weather Space Segment) to work at one of its sites. You will define, manage, and verify mission, system, and instrument requirements for space weather satellite missions through the full project lifecycle.

The role covers development, procurement, integration, testing, and operation of spacecraft, payloads, and ground systems, with emphasis on interface management, performance, and collaboration with international partners.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in a technical discipline related to space engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in spacecraft, payload, or space mission systems engineering.
  • Experience with system architecture and trade‑offs analyses.
  • Experience working with international teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead space segment system and mission requirements with full traceability and compliance.
  • Define, evolve, and verify architectures for space weather missions and ground interfaces.
  • Prepare instrument and satellite studies, including requirements engineering and technical assessments.
  • Monitor development activities across mission phases and ensure interface and performance compliance.
  • Coordinate with industry and international partners and support mission operations engineering.
