Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience designing security architectures for complex, multi‑segment systems (spacecraft bus, payload, ground segment, RF/comms links).
• Ability to decompose system‑level security architecture into subsystem‑level requirements for build and test.
• Hands‑on threat modeling to translate threat intel into concrete design decisions.
• Experience across flight software, avionics, RF/comms, ground systems with deep technical breadth.
• Familiarity with full system lifecycle from requirements to on‑orbit operations.
• Direct experience with U.S. Government customers on classified or sensitive programs.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end security architecture for assigned space systems, across space, ground, link, and user segments.
• Derive security requirements from customer needs, threat assessments, and policy, then flow to subsystems.
• Design protections for command and telemetry links including authentication and encryption.
• Define onboard security foundations: secure boot, root of trust, firmware integrity, and secure updates.
• Build and maintain threat models and attack trees for the mission and drive design decisions.
• Turn security requirements into working implementations with REs and review designs and code.
• Develop and run security verification at unit, subsystem, flatsat, spacecraft, and ground integration levels.
• Collaborate with red teams to find weaknesses and drive fixes to closure.
• Assess supplier hardware/software for supply chain risk and set vendor security requirements.
• Own security content at major milestones: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR.
• Brief security architectures to Government customers and program leadership.
• Work with ISSOs/ISSMs so design decisions support accreditation early.
• Help build reusable security patterns and tooling across space programs.
